Limestone refers to carbonated clastic sedimentary rock without any metamorphism. Calcium carbonate deposited in limestone lakes and seas is formed by compacting and cementing after losing moisture. Limestone can be divided into granular limestone (flowing water) according to its origin. Transportation and sedimentation); biological skeleton limestone and chemical and biochemical limestone.
Carbonate rocks are mainly composed of calcite. They sometimes contain dolomite,clay minerals and clastic minerals. They are grey,grayish white,grayish black,yellow,light red,maroon and other colors. It reacts violently with dilute hydrochloric acid.
